John Richard Pearcey is editor and publisher of The Pearcey Report and its blog, Pro-Existence.
He is formerly managing editor of the Capitol Hill newspaper Human Events
and associate editor of the "Evans-Novak Political Report." Born in
Germany, educated in the United States, Canada, and Germany, with
informal studies at L'Abri Fellowship in Huemoz, Switzerland, Pearcey’s
writings have appeared at American Thinker, The Daily Caller, CNSNews, Examiner, WND, the Washington Times, Human Events, Boundless, Citizen, The World & I (published by the Washington Times Corporation), and elsewhere.
His published writings address topics in film, books, science,
politics, social issues, breaking news, and worldview. He is the author
of more than 200 commentaries for BreakPoint radio, providing leadership and expertise in political, cultural, and worldview analysis to
help launch that national radio program. In addition, Pearcey has served
as senior writer with the MacLaurin Institute and as worldview
correspondent for radio KDIA 1640 AM in San Francisco. He has also held
positions as proofreader, copyeditor, assistant editor, and section
editor at The World & I magazine. While at the National Journalism Center on Capitol Hill, he participated in an internship at Radio America.
Pearcey has edited best-selling books, including Persecution: How Liberals Are Waging War Against Christianity (by David Limbaugh) and Total Truth: Liberating Christianity From Its Cultural Captivity (by Nancy Pearcey). Additional book editing projects include Story Craft: Reflections on Faith, Culture, and Writing from the Author of Hank the Cowdog (by John Erickson; 7.5 million "Hank" books sold), The Everlasting Hatred: The Roots of Jihad (by Hal Lindsey) and Saving Leonardo: A Call to Resist the Secular Assault on Mind, Morals, and Meaning (by Nancy Pearcey). In 2012, he wrote the Foreword to Emancipating the World: A Christian Response to Radical Islam and Fundamentalist Atheism, by Darrow L. Miller. He also wrote the "Foreword" to Finding Truth: 5 Principles for Unmasking Atheism, Secularism, and Other God Substitutes, by Nancy Pearcey (David C.Cook, 2015).
Richard has served as guest editor of the science journal Origins & Design. His research projects include studying sex education in Canadian schools. In November 2006, he added Pro-Existence as the weblog of The Pearcey Report.
Also a speaker, Richard's previous engagements include remarks
delivered at Hillsdale College, L’Abri Fellowship, The Awakening, and
MacKenzie University (Sao Paulo, Brazil).
Richard holds an M.Div. from Covenant Theological Seminary in St.
Louis, and an M.Phil.F. from the Institute for Christian Studies in
Toronto, where he studied Christian worldview and wrote a master's
thesis on "Carl F. H. Henry and the Question of Empirical Verification."
While in Toronto, Pearcey led seminars at the University of Toronto on
the thought of Francis Schaeffer and on the philosophy of Dutch
neo-Calvinist Hermann Dooyeweerd.
Guitarist with a nod to the blues, Pearcey appears as a rhythm
classical guitarist on a Toronto-produced album, enjoys improvising on
piano, and is the proud creator of one painting. He has led classes in
cultural analysis based on the Schaeffer book-video project How Should We Then Live? He met Nancy Randolph in Switzerland, and several years later they were married in Apple Valley, Minnesota.
The Pearceys' two sons have enjoyed a diversity of educational experiences, including homeschooling.
